EDGINGS

Kath Simpson was asked for this information during  a Workshop at Alva.

Curly worm edging

Working along the edge, purl side facing, pick up 3 stitches from edge of your garment.  Knit 6 rows, pick up the next 3 sts to the left and place them on top of the first 3 sts knit 6 rows. Carry on until you have completed the edging.  I would knit it at 2 tensions less than your main tension.

Pie crust edging

With the wrong side of work facing, you pick up stitches all along the edge.  Put them into hold position, push back the first 3 sts to high working position, knit 6 rows, now push another 3 sts back to high working position ** knit 6 rows transfer the first 3 sts onto the second 3 sts, push the empty needles back to non-working position, now push another 3 sts from the hold position back to high working position and knit 6 rows **.  You will be working with 6 sts from now on, carry on from ** to ** until you finish your edging.  For a finer edge knit 4 rows as I did with the scarves.
